Kern River Valley

Historical Society

Outside Exhibits

When you leave the main exhibit room via the back door, you will find a large collection of historic memorabelia in our backyard.

We have a full size stamp mill, stagecoach, work wagon, an assay office, a blacksmith's shop, a restored and furnished 110 year old cabin, and a restored 1925 Graham Truck that actually runs.

You can visit a working assay office or check out the collection of cattle brands from many of the ranches within a 100 mile radius of the Kern Valley.

We also have an outdoor theater/meeting room where we show some of the old movies that were filmed here, host concerts, receptions, and meetings.

Another Model in our mining exhibit is of a 20-mule team similar to the wagons that carried ore to the mills.
