Why should I Join the KRVHS?
By joining you will become a member of the largest rural historical society in California. Because with an all-volunteer staff - and no paid personel - you'd be helping the Historical Society maintain and preserve the rich and colorful history of this region for residents and visitors. Our strength is in numbers, everyone doing a little bit.
The cost of operating the Society and Museum is paid for by donations and memberships. A reserve fund protects us for emergencies, repairs, and replacement of equipment.
Society Objectives
The Society is unique in California in that we support schools, other civic groups and libraries for projects promoting local and Western history.
What's in it for you?
- The monthly Saddlebag Newsletter
- Social events and monthly programs
- Monthly docent-led field trips of historical interest
...and the opportunity to meet some really nice people:)

Become an • Active • Member
This means that you have an interest in serving on one of many committees, volunteering for work parties, or better yet, serving for 3 hours a month on our Museum staff.
What happens to my dues dollars?
They do not go to people. They fund our museum, archive and educational programs.
